Sixth Hawkins Family Member To Go Though The Chair

It’s very much a family affair for the Hawkins Family within the Redwood Lodge. This year sees James Hawkins a third generation Hawkins occupy the seat of King Solomon, at the tender age of 28. James is the sixth member of the Hawkins Family to do so and with his nephew only 8 years from being eligible to join, we are sure this long tradition shall continue.

Members Of Redwood Support The Foundation Clubs Poker Night

Last month saw The Foundation Club hold its annual Poker Night at Sutton Masonic Hall. This event attracted masons, non masons and even “Aces” a professional poker player from the TV show “Late Night Poker”. Thankfully “Aces” was a gentlemen and taught us a trick or two, without taking our money. There was fierce competition throughout the  evening, but ultimately it come down to a show down between myself and Nick the chairman. Nick won! The top three decided to donate their winnings, minus a round, to charity, so with the raffle a whooping £595 was raised for Charity. £555 went to the 2019 Festival and £40 went to support TLC Teddies For Loving Care. Sam from the committee sat this one out, however he was working the floor and got a sign up for mark masonry and another for a past masters lodge. All in all it was a suburb evening enjoyed by all.

Redwood Supports The Crime and The Craft Event Held At Nutfield Masonic Centre

The 24th of March saw 20 members of the Foundation Club ascend Nutfield Masonic Centre including 4 Redwood members , to witness Mike Neville’s latest talk ‘Crime and the Craft’. Mike delivered a fun and informative talk on historical events and his talk covered various crimes that involved Freemasons, either being perpetrators, or who were involved in the investigation and solving of these crimes. It was a fantastic evening, where we all learned something new. The talk was concluded by a quiz and I am delighted to say as Team Captain, that my team paid the most attention and obviously won. We then retired to the bar, held a raffle and raised £100 for Mike’s chosen charity. This is the second talk Mike has done for us and we look forward to welcoming Mike back for another event soon.
